The collection includes biographical material, speeches, correspondence, printed material, and photographs that reflect Brooks' army and business careers, and his personal life. Included is a report, "The Gathering Storm: An Analysis of Racial Instability Within the Army," which Brooks coauthored with James M. Miller while attending the United States Army War College in 1970. Photographs in the collection show Brooks with politicians and prominent individuals, including Richard Lugar, Indiana governor Edgar D. Whitcomb, President and Mrs. Gerald Ford, and NAACP executive directors Roy Wilkins and Benjamin Hooks.
